Baylor University Basketball Portraits

As you guys may know, Baylor University basketball is having quite the year! Both the men’s and women’s teams are currently undefeated and very highly ranked in the country! I had the chance to photograph a few of their elite athletes for US Presswire the other day and thought that I would share a few.

The athletes I photographed were Perry Jones III, Quincy Miller, Brittney Griner, and Odyssey Sims. Not only are these guys some of the top athletes in the country, but they were also very fun to photograph! I did have my IPAD with me and shot directly to it so that everyone could see the shots as we took them and make any necessary adjustments on the fly. As the norm with athletes, I usually get about 10 to 15 minutes tops with each one, so I have to get what I want really fast! Those of you that know me know that I can’t just do “normal” portraits as I want to always create something very cool and different.

I used 3 Profoto D1 Air units fired by the Air remote system and as usual, it worked flawlessly! The recycle times are super fast and the color and consistency of the light is truly amazing! If you have not used the D1 Air system yet, I’d highly recommend you try it out for yourself!

Here are a few highlights from the shoot…

Here is a cool shot of Perry that I like!

A few closeups of Perry and Quincy. LOVE the catchlight in the eyes!

Simply put, Brittney Griner is probably the best women’s college basketball player in the country.
