Last weekend, I was down in Houston covering the Redskins/Texans game for USA Today. I have to admit that Houston has a fantastic atmosphere for a game! I also had a great shooting game as all the action seemed to come my way! Here are some highlights...
I have had a lot of you ask if I could blog more sports stuff, so I thought I would make an effort and do just that this football season. Yesterday was the opening day for the Oklahoma Sooners football team and only the second game I have covered in Norman since I graduated.(As an alum, I was thrilled when USA Today told me I would be covering a lot of OU games this year!) It was definitely fun to get back to my old stomping grounds and take in all of the old tradition as well as witness some of the new ones!
Tailgating is a HUGE thing in college football and Oklahoma does it pretty big! Check out the cool custom Sooner bike too!
A NEW tradition is the players "Walk of Champions." The players get off the buses and walk to the stadium in the middle of hundreds of adoring fans.
How can you beat the Sooner Schooner, Poms, Cheerleaders, and Toby Keith? And a Chick-Fil-A cow?
If you haven't seen it, the Oklahoma intros are pretty electric!
Some game action as Keith Ford and Sterling Shepard score Oklahoma's first two touchdowns.
As bad luck would have it, I caught a beautiful would-be touchdown except that Oklahoma wide receiver Sterling Shepard would be ruled out of bounds pretty much making the photo worthless.
Since the game was pretty much lopsided, I decided to climb up the steps to get a nice overall full stadium photo...
At the end of the third quarter, former Oklahoma coach Barry Switzer came out of a tunnel with smoke and music blaring in the background and the stadium erupted. It's always great to see Barry!
It was a very impressive victory for Oklahoma and up next is Tulsa on Saturday.
Lat week, we had the chance to photograph Amanda and Jake's wonderful wedding! The ceremony was held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Colleyville with the reception at the Beautiful Hilton Southlake Hotel.
It was also great to work with our friend DJ Andy Austin and videographers Soulbox Productions! The weather was absolutely perfect and we had a great time with everyone there. Here are a few highlights from the day...
Last Saturday, I was very humbled that a couple of fantastic photographers whom I have admired and looked up to for many years entrusted me with capturing their daughter's special day. Gary and Pam Box are extremely talented photographers based in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. In fact, if any of you reading have any high school seniors needing portraits, I'd say definitely run and not walk to them!(They are that good!)
It was great to also work with my good friend and fellow wedding photographer Hiram Trillo and my assistant Jami on this special wedding and we truly had a wonderful time with everyone! Both Nichole and Josh looked amazing and were so easy to work with and photograph!! I really think we got some AMAZING photos and their album will simply look Gorgeous!
So, without rambling anymore, here are some highlights...
